Penilevel capsules, Phenoxymethylpenicillin potassium
COMPOSITION
Per capsule
Phenoxymethylpenicillin potassium ………… 600.000 I.U. (400 mg.)
Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, talc, gelatin, titanium dioxide
(E 171), indigotine (E 132) and yellow quinolone (E 104).
PROPERTIES
Penicillin V potassium is the potassium salt of the phenoxymethylpenicillin. It provides the advantages of stability in an acidic medium and easy absorption when taken by mouth. It is a bactericide and acts during the period of bacterial multiplication, inhibiting the biosynthesis of the mucopeptide of the cell wall.
The usual dosage produces therapeutic concentrations in different liquids of the organism that base their use on these instructions.
After absorption, phenoxymethylpenicillin is 80% bound to serum protein.
Its activity has been proven, "in vitro" among other methods, with respect to the following microorganisms: Staphylococcus, non-producers of penicillinase, Streptococcus (groups A, C, G, H, L and M) and Diplococcus pneumoniae.

Gumboils, stomatitis, gingivitis, and prophylaxis of infections in tooth extractions.
Penicillin is the medication of choice in the treatment and prophylaxis of streptococcal infections including prophylaxis of rheumatic fever.
POSOLOGY
The dosage should be determined depending on the sensitivity of the causal organism and severity of the infection, and should be adjusted according to the clinical response of the patient.
Adults and children over 12 years of age:
For treatment of streptococcal infections, the following is recommended: 2 capsules (800 mg.) every 8 hours for 10 days.
For treatment of Necrotic gingivitis, the following is recommended: 2 capsules (800 mg.) every 8 hours.
In prophylaxis of rheumatic fever or bacterial endocarditis, the following is recommended: 1 capsule (400 mg.) every 12 hours.
In any infection caused by haemolytic streptococcal treatment, should last at least 10 days to avoid the appearance of acute rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis.
