CASODEX Ž 50mg bicalutamide
Each film coated tablet contains 50 mg. of the active ingredient Bicalutamide. The other ingredients are: Lactose, Sodium starch glycollate, Povidone, Magnesium stearate, Hypromellose, Macrogol 300, and Titanium dioxide.

WHAT IS CASODEX
This medication comes in the form of film coated tablets. Each pack contains 30 film coated tablets.
CASODEX 50 belongs to a group of medications called anti-androgens. This means that it interferes with some of the actions of androgens (male sex hormones) within the body. CASODEX 50 is used to treat prostate cancer in combination with other treatments such as other drugs which reduce the levels of androgens in the body.

BEFORE TAKING CASODEX
Do not take CASODEX 50:
- If you have allergies to Bicalutamide or any of the other ingredients of CASODEX 50.

CASODEX 50 must not be taken by women or children.

Take special care with CASODEX 50:
- If you are suffering from any disorder or disease which affects your liver.
- If you are taking any other medicines including those which you have bought over-the-counter, in particular, if you are taking oral anti-coagulants (to prevent blood clots).
If you go into hospital, let the medical staff know you are taking CASODEX 50.
Only stop taking your tablets if your doctor tells you.

Pregnancy and lactation:
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medication.
CASODEX 50 is contraindicated in females and must not be given to pregnant women or nursing mothers.

Effects on ability to drive and use machines:
CASODEX 50 is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or to operate machinery.
Important information about some of the ingredients of CASODEX 50:
CASODEX 50 tablets contain lactose and titanium dioxide which may cause a problem in a small number of patients who are sensitive to them.

Taking other medications:
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, or have recently taken any other medication including those which you have bought without a prescription. See "Take special care with CASODEX 50".

HOW TO TAKE CASODEX
Follow these instructions when taking this medication unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
Remember to take your medication.
Your doctor will indicate the duration of your treatment with CASODEX 50. Do not suspend treatment before the period recommended by your doctor.


Usual dosage:
- In adults, the usual recommended dose is one tablet daily.
- CASODEX 50 should be swallowed whole with a drink of water.
- Try to take your tablet at the same time each day.

If you take more CASODEX 50 than you should:
If you take more than your normal dose, contact your doctor or nearest hospital.
In the case of an overdose or accidental ingestion contact your local poison control centre.

If you forget to take a dose of CASODEX 50:
You should take CASODEX 50 as prescribed. However, if you miss a dose do not take an extra dose. Just resume your usual schedule.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, undesirable events are sometimes experienced with CASODEX 50.

Contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately if you experience any of the following:
- Serious breathlessness or sudden worsening of breathlessness, possibly with a cough or fever. Some patients taking CASODEX 50 get an inflammation of the lungs called interstitial lung disease. This side effect is uncommon (1 to 10 in every 1,000 patients).
- Severe itching of the skin (with raised lumps) or swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat, which may cause difficulty in swallowing. These reactions to CASODEX 50 are uncommon (1 to 10 in every 1,000 patients).

Tell your doctor if any of the following side effects bother you:

Side effects that are very common (more than 10 in every 100 patients are likely to have them):
- tender or enlarged breast tissue
- hot flushes

Side effects that are common (1 to 10 in every 100 patients are likely to have them):
- nausea
- diarrhoea
- itching
- feeling weak
- yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
q Side effects that are rare (1 to 10 in every 10,000 patients are likely to have them):
- vomiting
- dry skin.

Occasionally, CASODEX 50 may be associated with changes in your blood which may require your doctor to do certain blood tests.

Do not be alarmed by this list of possible effects. You may not have any of them.

If you notice any side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist.

STORAGE OF CASODEX
Keep CASODEX 50 in a safe place where children cannot see it or reach it. Do not store above 30ēC. Keep your tablets in the container they came in.

Expiry: Check the expiry date on the carton and do not use CASODEX 50 after that date.
