Frenadol, dextromethorphan, chlorpheniramine information
 
Other names: Frenadol Complex, Frenadol Lemon, Frenadol PS
 
Frenadol contains three active substances, Paracetamol, Dextromethorphan and Chlorpheniramine. 
Frenadol PS also contains Pseudoefedrina.
 
Paracetamol reduces the fever and pain while the Dextromethorphan relieves the cough and the Chlorpheniramine reduces excessive nasal secretion. Frenadol does not cure infections produced by viruses or bacteria, but relieves the symptoms of a flu. 
 
Properties
To relieve the symptoms produced by the flu, cold, pain, cough or fever. 
 
Indications
Frenadol is available for oral administration in different forms. The suitable dose of Frenadol is different for each patient. Recommended doses are indicated below.  
 
 
Dosage
The dose recommended for adults (over 18 years of age) is 1 tablet Frenadol (Dextromethorphan and Chlorpheriramine) every 6 or every 8 hours. For young people less than 18 years of age consult your doctor. 
 
Precautions
If you are suffering from diseases that affect the liver, kidney, heart or lungs, ocular hypertension, obstruction of the urinary routes, diabetes or anemia, consult your doctor before taking this medicine. Frenadol (Frenadol Complex, Frenadol Lemon, Frenadol PS) can diminish concentration and awareness. 
 
When you are driving vehicles or handling dangerous machinery do not use Frenadol. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking the medicine. Do not take more than 4 doses a day. The elderly will normally need smaller doses. After one week of treatment and you are still feeling bad stop taking the medicine and visit your doctor. 
 
Warnings
If you are allergic to Paracetamol, Dextromethorphan or Chlorpheniramine do not use Frenadol (Frenadol Complex, Frenadol Lemon, Frenadol PS). If you notice any type of allergic reaction do not take the medicine and contact your doctor. 
 
Some medicines that interact with Frenadol are cloranfenicol, oral anticoagulants (acenocumarol, warfarina), estrogen (estriol, estradiol) and antidepressants type IMAO (moclobemida, tranilcipromina). Tell your doctor if you are using any of these medicines or others obtained without a prescription. 
 
Side effects
Sedation and somnolence are common. Frenadol can also produce constipation, dry mouth, vertigo, diminution of arterial tension, difficulty urinating, confusion and euphoria. Frenadol can produce other adverse effects so consult your doctor if you notice something abnormal. 
 
Important for women: If you are pregnant or think you might be, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
