Flomax, tamsulosin information Other names: Flomaxtra, Omnic, Urimax
The active ingredient of Omnic 0.4 is tamsulosin (ICD) as the hydrochloride. Each capsule of Omnic 0..4 contains 0.4 mg of tamsulosin hydrochloride equivalent to 0.367 mg of tamsulosin.
The non-active ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, methacrylic acid - ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1), polysorbate 80, sodium lauryl sulfate, triacetin, calcium stearate and talc. The capsule shell contains: hard gelatin, titanium dioxide (E 171), indigotine (E 132), yellow iron oxide (E 172) and red iron oxide (E 172).
What Is Omnic (Flomaxtra, Flomax, Urimax, Tamsulosin)
Omnic 0.4 comes in the form of modified release capsules. Each pack contains 30 capsules. Tamsulosin (Flomaxtra, Flomax, Urimax, Omnic) belongs to a group of medications called alpha1-blockers. It reduces smooth muscle tension in prostate and urethra. Omnic 0.4 is used in the treatment of functional symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) such as: difficulty in passing urine, dribble at the end of passing urine, urgent need to urinate and if you feel the need to pass urine often both during the day and at night.
Before Taking Omnic (Flomaxtra, Flomax, Urimax, Tamsulosin)
Do not take Omnic 0.4 if you are allergic to tamsulosin or to any other component of this medication or if you suffer severe hepatic insufficiency. You should not take Omnic 0.4 if you suffer orthostatic hypotension (experience dizziness caused by low blood pressure after sitting or standing up).
Take special care with Omnic 0.4:
- If you suffer severe renal insufficiency.
- Omnic 0.4 may rarely cause fainting. At the first signs of dizziness or weakness the patient should sit or lie down until the symptoms have disappeared.
Driving and using machines:
Patients should be aware of the fact that dizziness can occur when taking this medication, therefore extreme caution should be taken when driving or operating machinery.
Important information about some of the components of Omnic 0.4:
The capsule shell contains titanium dioxide, which can cause hypersensitive skin reactions (itching, red spots).
Taking other medications:
No interactions have been reported but the concomitant administration of Omnic 0.4 with other medications that belong to the same group may reduce blood pressure. Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medication, even those bought without a prescription.
How to Take Omnic (Flomaxtra, Flomax, Urimax, Tamsulosin)
The capsule should be taken after breakfast or the first meal of the day. It should be swallowed whole, not chewed with plenty of water. The usual recommended dose is one capsule per day (0.4 mg tamsulosin hydrochloride) taken orally. If you think that the action of Omnic 0.4 is too strong or too weak inform your doctor or pharmacist. Follow these instructions unless otherwise indicated by your doctor. Remember to take your medication. Your doctor will indicate the duration of your treatment with Omnic 0.4. Do not discontinue treatment before the period recommended by your doctor as the desired effect may not be achieved.
If you take more Omnic 0.4 than you should consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately or contact your local poison control centre.
If you forget to take your daily Omnic 0.4 capsule after breakfast or first meal of the day you can take it later the same day after another meal. If you miss a whole day just continue to take your normal daily dose the next day after breakfast or first meal of the day. Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you missed.
Possible Side Effects
Like all medications Omnic 0.4 (Flomaxtra, Flomax, Urimax, Tamsulosin) may have some adverse effects. The following adverse reactions have been reported during the use of Omnic 0.4: dizziness, especially when sitting down or standing up, abnormal ejaculation, weakness, headache, palpitations, runny or blocked nose, and allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching and local inflammation. Occasionally, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation may occur. Rarely, fainting, generalized urticaria accompanied by swelling of the feet, hands, lips, throat and respiratory tract may occur. Very rarely, priapism (persistent and painful erection of the penis without sexual stimulus which requires immediate medical attention) may occur. If you notice any other adverse reaction not mentioned in this leaflet consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage Of Omnic
Omnic 0.4 capsules do not require any special storage conditions. Keep Omnic 0.4 out of the reach and sight of children.
Expiry: Do not take Omnic 0,4 after the expiry date which appears on the pack.
