Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (NRIs) stop norepinephrine and dopamine, therefore it has very little effect on serotonin levels. This group is used for its ability to act as a stimulant in the brain This group of medication is used to treat chronic fatigue, narcolepsy, ADHD and even smoking cessation.

Norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitors (NDRIs) block the action of norepinephrine transporters and dopamine transporters that increase extracellular concentrations of more epinephrine and dopamine and therefore causes an increase in their neurotransmitters.

Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCAs) are the oldest form of antidepressants originating  in the 1950s . Most of the medications from this group have been replaced by either SSRIs or SNRIs.

Lithium (Eskalith) is an antipsychotic, anti-manic carbonate medication used to control Bipolar disorder. It alters sodium transport in nerve and muscle cells. If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you might have noticed the upbeat tone that has permeated many of the posts.  It’s been said that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, so a bit of lightheartedness when talking about what meds to buy is sometimes in order.  However, for many, it doesn’t feel like there’s anything to smile about.  I’m talking about those suffering from depression which is not an easy thing to deal with, despite being able to buy antidepressants online.

As winter approaches, so does the holiday season.  This conjures up thoughts of joy for many, but for many it can also mean sadness.  This is the time of year when depression is at an all-time high.  One thing that can make things worse is cost.  If someone doesn’t have the money to purchase the drugs they need to cure their depression, they very well might just convince themselves that it’s not depression but rather something they should be able to deal with on their own.  Failure to deal with it may just make the depression worse.
